Rikugien Gardens

A bad start today as Katie has picked up a hip injury and has made the valiant decision to chill out at the hostel all day while I hoof it around town. I decide to pay Rikugien gardens a visit. The gardens are quite small but with the autumn leaves season in full swing here in Tokyo there are plenty of good photo opportunities.

As night falls, the crowds somehow get bigger as floodlights are flipped on and pointed at the treetops. I’m not a massive fan of boring old torch light in my photos, but the locals were all over it. An older gentleman next to me defies the no-tripod rules and a succession of what must be the entire Rikugien garden no-tripod enforcement army tries to force him to pack it away by way of polite requests, seemingly the only weapon in their arsenal.
