Nothing is cheap in Iceland, and car rental is no exception. I find a budget rental place called SADcars, and decide to head into town to scope them out. Its not pretty. The cars don’t look like they were pulled off the used car lot, they look like they were pushed onto the lot from a junkyard. Forget a few dents and scratches, these cars had heavy rusting, massive dents and missing parts. I would not dare take one of these cars out into the remote reaches of Iceland.
I head home and find a more reliable, and expensive, alternative. To save money I went with a manual. I haven’t driven a manual in about 8 years, let alone a manual in a country that drives on the wrong side of the road. I just I don’t stall the car pulling out of the lot. The earliest availability is for tomorrow, so I head home to get ready.
